Ofsted praises Moorings Way Infant School for combining highest expectations with real care

Staff and pupils at Moorings Way Infant School are celebrated achieving a Good rating by Ofsted following its first inspection since the pandemic.

Moorings Way Infant School, received a highly complimentary report by Her Majesty’s Inspector and has maintained its Good rating. The school is part of the high-performing Thinking Schools Academy Trust, which leads 17 successful primary and secondary schools in Medway, Kent, Plymouth and Portsmouth.

Highlights from the report included praising staff for “providing an exceptionally nurturing environment that ensures each pupil’s individual interests and talents are known and celebrated.” The inspector commented that the school’s leaders are determined that every pupil makes a strong and confident start to their education, both in terms of academic success and their wider development. Impressively, the inspector said, “parents know that staff combine the highest expectations for every pupil with real care.”

Ofsted also commended the curriculum and attitude to learning at the school, stating “leaders have carefully planned each subject so pupils can build the knowledge and skills they need to be curious and creative.” Learning in lessons was said to be calm and purposeful and complemented by interesting trips and visits.

The inspector went on to applaud the school for prioritising all pupils’ physical and mental wellbeing, adding that pupils are encouraged to be resilient and try their very best. The report said that throughout the school, there is a clear emphasis on pupils developing the social skills they need for life outside of school.
